Blue Experience - Full Circle

So many years ago, "so many roads" ago, I met Mike at the Blue while I was pounding away at an old upright piano in the bar's far corner. I was playing "I Shall Be Released" with my former musical partner, Doug Bowes, when Mike Campbell popped in with his trusty trumpet and "blew" me away with his gorgeous spontaneous solo. Eventually, Mike and I started playing at the Blue. It was a strange team - with his Grateful Dead background and my country/rock style. His music was totally new to me, and I had no idea of what it meant to be a "Dead Head." Jump ahead many years, and there we are again, at the Blue, on a Thursday night, immersed in music inspired by the music Mike loves so much. I'm a believer now, but poor Mike had to patiently guide me with chord charts and lyric sheets for a long, long time. So last night, we were a Thugz quartet with Mike, Chris, Stephanie and little old me. The crowd has changed a bit, but there were many old friends there too. Even the knotty pine walls are the same and still create an intense sound environment. We had a great time playing for the crowd, and the crowd had a blast. Then came the announcement: we'll be doing Thugz Thursdays twice a month starting in February - every 1st and 3rd Thursday. Our home base is home base once again - yahoo. Take care. love, Sylvia
