Last night was our first gathering at the Blue on the first Thursday of the month. Our wonderful fans are used to the third Thursday, so I wondered if anyone would be there. No problem. The bar was soon packed with an energetic, noisy crowd - ready for an evening of Thugz style chaos. This time we had Mike, Chris, Stephanie, myself, and Andre too! Mike and Stephanie play music together a lot as the famous "Thug and Jug" unit, so their vocals and good chemistry really uplift our scene. Andre's tasty guitar licks always keep things going. Even though Chris has to stand in the corner, his bass cuts through to keep us all together. I listen to what Chris plays very carefully - he helps me find my way whenever I've lost the beat or can't figure out a chord progression. Chris is a wonderful human being - but also a rock solid bassist! Speaking of rock solid, Mike is the "grand fromage." I loved his acoustic guitar playing last night - especially since he had a great amp (once used by Lindsey Buckingham, legend has it). With Mike on acoustic and Andre contrasting with his plugged in sound - our tunes were interesting and layered. I use my Yamaha at the Blue since it doesn't require an amp. Although it limits me to an acoustic sound, I love to play it - so I had a blast last night - just me and the 88's - not a lot of crazy gear. I'm hoping our Thugz Thursdays will continue to be a draw for so many of our tribe and new friends. It feels like a house party every time - what could be better? Take care. Love, Sylvia
