Holiday Roadhouse Cheer

Saturday night at the Roadhouse - what a scene. We had all the elements necessary for a perfect Thugz Holiday Bash. We arrived early to set up in the enclosed patio area where it was cold and damp, but the Roadhouse staff was eager to please, always upbeat and positive. I did my best to ignore the ice machine behind me that put out a strong F# tone and occasionally spit out a mini glacier. Once we began playing, that F# faded into the background - no problem. Drew was there, helping to set up and offering so much encouragement. Maris and the baby came along later. It was at the Roadhouse long ago that Maris told me she was pregnant - my, my. Larry and Deanne came and delivered my piano stool that Larry had generously fixed with great skill after it collapsed on me last Thursday evening. A smiling fan walked around, handing out perfect long-stemmed red roses to the lovely ladies. He gave me a gorgeous wreath of roses to wear - I was overwhelmed with gratitude. Melanie was there to moderate our Psychedelic Santa contest. She's absolutely wonderful when it comes to helping everyone feel the spirit of our event. Stephanie showed up to share her sparkle and good cheer. Her beautiful voice is such a blessing and really lifts up our Thugz shows. Mike's nephew was there too, and he got to strap on Andre's guitar for a rousing "Fire On the Mountain." Cody's dad is the living inspiration for "Master of the Highway" - what a great legend Mike created in that song. The list goes on and on. It was a night that brought all of us together. Each time we get the word at the Roadhouse to stop at 10pm because of the neighbors, there is invariably a loud groan of protest. But the party continued as folks hung around to chat and wish each other happy holidays. The party will happen again on New Year's Eve at the Roadhouse. That night, we might be able to play later than usual. No matter when we end the music, the Thugz spirit will be ushered into 2016. Things are lookin' good! Take care. Love, Sylvia
