Howlin' at the Moon...in Cotati

Saturday night in Cotati is a big deal - even bigger when the moon is full and the Thugz tribe invades the Redwood Cafe. It was supposed to be a "CD Release" party, but we still have to wait 10 more days for delivery - so it became a pre-party with veteran Thugz fans and new converts alike. Our wonderful friend, James Foster of Free Peoples fame, came to drum with us, and he pushed us along with his strong style from the moment we played our first note. With James behind him, Mike got to demonstrate all his incredible rockin' guitar licks. That Fender of his got a workout, and the crowd loved it. We were all energized - a classic full moon night. When the Dead tunes came around, I saw many dancers sing along with gusto. The magic never seems to stop. So now we wait for the CD and continue with our home-base gigs at the Blue. But we will return to Cotati in March, and we hope to have another hot night - moon or no moon. It really doesn't matter where we play, the Thugz spirit emerges when and where you least expect it sometimes. I must thank our fantastic "roadie," Drew, for making it all happen. He helps me out in so many ways, provides great sound, and even scurries around to get beers when needed. Drew is always positive, encouraging, and really "into" the music. He's simply "the best!" I also want to acknowledge our fabulous bass player, Chris. He was on fire last night and really worked well with James's drumming. Of course he was tip-top...today is his birthday! Happy, happy birthday, Chris. So the Thugz saga continues - what a great (and surprising) new year so far. Take care. Love, Sylvia
