As the blog title suggests, last night was another Blue Heron gig for the Thugz. This time it really was "bigger and better." Mike was there this time - along with Andre, Chris and myself - 4 fabulous Thugz, all in a row. A group of loyal fans have figured out that the 3rd Thursday of the month is Thugz Thursday at the Blue. The place was packed with old friends and new comers who wandered in and got into the groove. Dave, the longtime bartender, and I got into a conversation about our Thugz gigs in the good old days, more than 10 years ago. It's all mind boggling for me because I can clearly remember meeting Mike there and slowly but surely learning about the music he loved. So the fans had a fantastic time last night - dancing, smiling, laughing, and singing. They sang along with gusto on many of our Grateful Dead tunes. The evening ended with a big sing-along on "I Know You Rider" and "Ripple." The old knotty pine walls in the Blue rang out with those songs - bringing up memories and good vibes from years ago. It felt great to be there. Next week we're hoping for a huge tribal gathering at "755 After Dark" (formerly Aubergine's) on Friday, the 27th. I'm hoping for a massive sing-along - why not?
