Family Reunion

The whole band got to play last night at Trio in Guerneville - a lucky break since another scheduled group had cancelled. We did our best to get the word out with such short notice, and our efforts paid off. We had so many old friends, new converts, and tribal devotees there. I was amazed each time a familiar face came in from the rainy night. (Hallelujah for the rain) It really felt like a family reunion - we should order family reunion shirts from Lands End next time - or maybe not- probably no groovy tie-dye in stock. I've only hung out in Trios once before, but I think it's a little Guerneville gem. The folks there are really friendly and run an efficient, welcoming place - good food too. They receive a five-star Thugz approval rating. We had a great time playing and had the chance to do several new tunes that we've included on our new CD. Our fans are the best in the world, and we felt their love and support all night. It really has been way too long since we got to play locally - in a spot that welcomes all ages and doesn't charge at the door! That's our kind of venue. Ian's son, Zephyr, got to come to see us play. (He probably wanted to see "Grandpa" toot his horn.) Zephyr sat right down in front, munched on some fries and kept demanding we play his favorite song - "Hard Day's Night!" He'll be performing in no time. Of course we played several Dead tunes, and I was thrilled when a new fan came up and begged for more. He wanted "Iko Iko" - I should have told him to come to our Mardi Gras party at the Rio Nido Roadhouse on March 1st - lots of "Iko Iko" to come. But Mike decided to play "Good Lovin,'" and I saw our new fan dancing up a storm - yeah. It was a great Saturday night, a great start for a new month. Take care. Love, Sylvia
