KRSH Backyard Bash

Crows were soaring over the recycling center next door when we set up for our KRSH backyard gig. They flew around then landed on a wire - just like that image of birds making musical notes on a staff. They would fly around, switch positions and distract the heck out of me. I felt connected to their antics since I live with some friendly raven families. But I came down to earth pretty quickly once the music began. David Gans "flew" in off Highway 101, traffic weary but ready to go. Once we began playing with David, the fans really responded to the Dead tunes. I saw several folks mouthing every word from "Down To Eugene" to "New Speedway Boogie." There was great energy flying around - I hope the crows enjoyed it too. Since our bass man Chris was still away, our wonderful Thugz Associate, John Paul, played his big stand-up bass. Of course, Mike had to offer him a solo, and it was really effective in the middle of our NSWB jam. I think David Gans had a good time. Afterwards, he said, "I hope I didn't cut loose too much," - good grief, that never could happen at a Thugz gig! It was a good show, and I know the Mother Hips duo that followed was fantastic. We all were so happy so many of our loyal river fans could make their way to Santa Rosa - so many familiar faces having so much fun. That's the whole idea! Take care. Love, Sylvia
