On stage at the River Theater - Thugz plus 2 Jugs - a happy crowd - birthday energy in the air - what a formula for a great night. The Leo Birthday celebration Friday night was "great fun" - as Jerry Knight would say. Stephanie organized quite an evening with the band and several DJs offering tunes. Since Jerry Garcia was a Leo, we played all Dead and JGB songs. Stephanie sang powerful versions of "Gomorrah" and "New Speedway Boogie" with Mike and I singing back-up. We had 3 guitars up there - Mike, Andre, and Adam - all fabulous players. Those guys are such good musicians that they knew how to make musical space for each other, and everything fit into place. I tried to provide some sort of Brent/Keith/Melvin - type licks. As always, the sound turned out to be distinctly ours - a good thing. After our set, Stephanie had the DJs begin, and I heard some rockin' Dead tunes fill the air as we were packing up behind the theater. Stephanie zoomed around all night spreading good cheer. She hopes to run through the zodiac and have parties each month. Leo was easy - Jerry was a Leo, so musical choices were already determined. I can't think of a Virgo with the same influence, but Stephanie will get the party going late September sometime. She has a mission to keep Guerneville hopping! Right now my main concern is to chase the fog away so I can see the Perseus meteor shower - it feels so good to reconnect with the big picture! Take care. Love, Sylvia
