Life Lessons

Every Thugz gig is loaded with life lessons for me - about confidence, power, skill levels, interpersonal relationships, the whole spectrum. Since I stepped out and added an instrument, the lessons are pouring in - and I'm amazed that this old broad can still learn so much! I can even set up and tear down in the dark without losing stuff and without whining too loudly. We did the theater on Thursday, then a great party for the H.A.V.E cause (Help American Veterans Endure) on Saturday, followed by a Sunday gig at Aubergine's in Sebastopol. Since I have such a long drive before and after gigs, I get to think through what I want to accomplish and what I did in retrospect. I had a lot to "process" this time since I had the new organ and equipment issues to think about. I'm even more in awe of Mike and what he has to handle equipment-wise...all those effects...all those 9 volt batteries...choice of amps...tuning...good grief - and he sings all those songs, remembers lyrics, and has time to help the rest of us congeal as a band! So now I'm learning more about multi-tasking in the keyboard world - it must be good for my brain, maybe better than watching Jeopardy - who knows? The bottom line is: Always Push The Envelope! The Thugz have created a cozy niche in the River Theater, but all of us are capable of raising the bar a bit. When the music soars, it's a glorious experience. We have all the fans to thank for their support, confidence, interest, encouragement, and love. I'm looking forward to our Dylan show and the Jerry Day celebration. With all these new lessons hitting home, I know the band will shine. Take care. Love, Sylvia
