"Muscle Shoals" in Cotati

Bits and pieces of the Thugz appear here and there. Mike and I play at Forestville's Backyard restaurant twice a month for Monday local's night, and Mike joins Stephanie at the Blue Heron on Thursdays and sometimes at Trio's on Tuesdays). Of course, Andre's dulcet tones can still be heard daily on the KRSH, and Bradley pops up all over the place playing all kinds of great music. Chris is busy working hard all day, but he will definitely appear when the opportunity arises. The Thugz will soon gather for a full-band show. (I'm excited about the 4/20 gig at Sweetwater!) Mike keeps our gig calendar up-to-date on the website, so we're hoping fans will find us. Meanwhile, we've been gathering at Andre's home/recording studio in Cotati. His poor kitties have to stay outside while we take over, move furniture, and transform his abode into our own Muscle Shoals. As we set up yesterday I saw the local wild turkey strut through the yard, followed by an admiring peacock. I was feeling quite special since our session was devoted to two of my own new songs. We don't have fancy equipment, nor do we have a lot of space - certainly not ideal for recording, but we're all together, working hard to recreate an authentic Thugz sound. It takes patience and hard work because time is always an issue. But every session is fun, rewarding and goofy when Mike prods us on with humor. There's an amp in the bathroom and kitties meowing at the door - but it's working out fine. We have basic tracks recorded for about 10 songs, and we have more to do. Adding vocals and special trumpet parts will  happen soon. This is a very important project for all of us. Thank you to all of you who have been so supportive along the way. The sun's out, the grass is green, the birds are singing, music is in the air - what could be better?  Take care. Love, Sylvia
