Mystery Solved

For the longest time, something has been amiss with our sound system. We were beginning to wonder about poltergeists. Last night began with cracking noises in the main speakers as we set up, but we just kept going through the pre-gig sound check. Also, I tried new instrument cables in an effort to get a Nord stereo connection through the sound system - something we haven't gotten right for a long while. We just never know what to expect. Drew made the momentous decision to switch all sorts of cables around - to avoid suspicious channels, I suppose. For some reason, a miracle happened - everything worked - exactly as it should! We could all hear well through our monitors, and I was happy the keyboard sounded the way it was supposed to. Maybe each Thug did lots of good deeds last week, or maybe it was the new moon, or maybe just trial and error - whatever it was, it worked. Now we just have to remember how to do it again. Because of the clear sound, we all had a great night. The band played well mainly because we could hear each other and play responsively. When the sound is good, we can focus on expression and musicianship instead of just getting through a song. After last night, I felt revived and ready for more - so I'm eager to get going on preparations for our Dylan show, June1st. Upward and onward.

Take care. Love, Sylvia
