Sharing the Stage

When I pulled up to the Forestville Club last night, the side door was open for load-ins and beautiful organ, synth/piano sounds were wafting through the air. Koobifora had arrived and Taylor (their keyboard guy) was trying out some sounds. I hated to ask him to move his stuff. He was very gracious and got his things pushed aside so I could set up. Luckily Ian got to stroll in without a drum kit since Bradley offered his setup for the Thugz. Sharing a stage for the night is like that - some of "theirs" blends with some of "ours." Drew and Bradley pulled together the PA, and Andre even got to offer suggestions when proverbial problems came up. It was great to have Andre back. He brought back his tune, "Blue Roses," and did an awesome "Loser" - plus I got my end-of-the-night "Bonsoir." Several loyal Thugz fans came out for our opening set, and it felt reassuring to have them there. Meanwhile Koobifora fans were waiting in the wings for their band, but they seemed to enjoy our offerings too. Then came that magic moment when the bands had to switch. At that point, it's just a matter of keeping "your" stuff separated from "their" stuff. Drew was right there to help us break down, but he had to stay focused for the Koobifora sound adjustments. He's a patient soul - such a great guy. Once my car was packed, I decided to just head out for home. The moon was almost full, and I knew the ride back up the coast would be spectacular. I know the Koobifora set was fabulous. The Koobifora guys are all wonderful musicians, and the band has so much promise. Next time I'll stay to the very end. At home, I was amazed to discover that I managed to get all my stuff thrown into the right container and into the car. The Koobifora/Thugz relationship began at the Strawberry Festival this year. I'm sure we'll be sharing a space somewhere again some day. Chaos can be fun!

Take care. Love, Sylvia
