Steppin' Out

We did our second week at the River Theater after leaving Northwood, and it felt great. Jerry has been a fabulous host - always smiling, and his staff is wonderful. We know our music is appreciated at Jerry's place, and that's what counts. I'm so happy the David Nelson Band will be playing on the River Theater's big stage Valentine's night. His fans bring so much warmth and enthusiasm to a venue, and I'm sure we'll feel it in the atmosphere when we return on the 21st.

Last night we crossed over to the other side - east of Highway 101, that is. The Redwood Cafe in Cotati is a very nice spot with great staff and excellent food. I had to muster up firm resistance to their baked goodies at the end of the night. The crowd wasn't huge, but they were full of energy and good vibes. I saw a few guys singing along with Dead tunes too. "One More Saturday Night" got them going - it could actually be a theme song for the jumpin' Cotati strip on Saturday nights. At least 3 bands were vying for attention, and we got a fantastic share of the action. Our pal Andre is the official sound guy at the Redwood Cafe, so we got to share stories and catch up with his adventures. He's the new program director at the KRSH (95.9), and we all know he'll make sure the station plays groovy tunes. I hope Thugz fans can support his efforts at the station.

We're looking forward to steppin' out even further afield when we travel to Novato to open for New Monsoon at the Hopmonk on March 1st. Craig made some beautiful posters for the event - they look spectacular under black light.  Also we're excited because soon we'll be able to show off some video of a live performance at the Sebastopol Hopmonk. We're cookin' along - trying to spread some musical joy on these cold winter nights. But coming home to the river area keeps us grounded and dedicated. Thank you, everybody!

Take care. Love, Sylvia
