T/BG Day Five/Petaluma

What's the difference between a team locker room and a band green room? Not much. The atmosphere is energized with anticipation, and sometimes there's time for a pep talk. Way down in Zodiacs' basement, there's a hidden green room, complete with a vinyl turntable and LP's galore. To the strains of Pink Floyd, we had a great pep talk before last night's show. Mike always sees the big picture so clearly. Despite small details and equipment challenges, he reminded us about our main mission - keeping this live music thing going. Once we got on stage, I was ready to do my best and open my ears to what was going on. I think we all played well, and the folks out there had a great time. We pulled out that Country Joe classic - "Not So Sweet Martha Lorraine" - and the '60s-'70s vibe got into the minds of the young fans. A bunch of 20-somethings sitting in the juice bar wanted to "high five" me when we finished - grateful for the sounds we had shared. It was also a night for some jamming. We let things flow away from the usual form on a couple of tunes, but my favorite was "The Other One." When we finished, I packed up before Boris Garcia started. Silly me - I always worry about driving home alone late at night. What I missed was a monster jam with Mike, Chris, Andre, and Bradley joining the BG bunch - Bob, Jeff, Tim and Bud. Luckily there was a recorder going. I can hardly wait to hear the magic they all created. Tonight we  go north to the Caspar Inn. I know the Thugz are planning to jam a lot - it should be a fantastic show. Take care. Love, Sylvia
