T/BG Day Four/Mill Valley

It was Mill Valley last night - the Sweetwater Music Hall! It's an amazing place with an amazing, welcoming, kind staff. I'd love to go back on a weekend night. Of course, we had a Wednesday night - not a big crowd-drawing night for an unfamiliar band. We played early before Boris Garcia, and I think more people showed up for them. I did hear a big "Boris Garcia California Tour" promo on "Dead To the World," and Sweetwater was mentioned - but no Thugz. However, I'm glad we got the chance to experience the venue - crowd or no crowd. The sound guy let Drew take over his board and told him he did an excellent job. Yeah, Drew! Of course the green room was lovely - filled with posters of bands and great photos of the Grateful Dead and friends. The Sweetwater chef sent us some delectible food too - so this R&R lifestyle can be pretty grand. I hit the road after our set since I had a long drive ahead. On the late night radio I heard a performance from the KPFA live studio of "Mo'-Phone." It's a trio made up of drums, baritone sax and tenor sax - no strings, no keys. They also added a didgeridoo. By the time I got to the Coast Guard Training place in Two Rock, I was a little nuts with the intensity of all that banging and blowing. After turning the radio off, I just relaxed and let our Thugz music replay in my head. We did some good stuff - and I especially liked all the vocal layers thanks to Stephanie's contributions. A kind Mill Valley gentleman who was out walking his dog as I packed up to go told me he really enjoyed our band and even apologized that more people weren't there. I think the Thugz message will spread now that we've laid the ground work in Mill Valley. I'm proud of what we do, and I'm forever grateful that we can make folks smile.Take care. Love, Sylvia
