Timber Cove Experience

I usually write blog posts for full band shows, but it looks like the Thugz might be doing several duo, trio, and maybe quartet acoustic gigs this summer - and all Thugz configurations inspire me to reflect. Last night Mike and I had the full Timber Cove experience at the Inn. It was misty, a bit foggy and cool at the coast. The new Inn owners have made the lounge quite inviting with new carpeting and furniture. Of course, a fire was warming the place as we set up near the hearth. We kept it quiet and low-key while the tourists and locals started to come in for the evening. I really love playing with Mike when he goes acoustic because I can hear every tasteful lick on his guitar, and we can play around with dynamics. Amazingly, we played for 3 hours without a break, and it was effortless. We could have gone on and on without running out of songs, so I guess after all those years of playing together we've built up quite the repertoire. I think of the Timber Cove Inn as a tourist draw in my neighborhood, not a locals gathering place. But so many wonderful friends showed up last night that I think there may be hope for another flourishing tribal spot, right in my own backyard. After the weekend, Mike and I move on to our favorite spot in Forestville at the Backyard restaurant. It's a totally different scene - great food, a young, dynamic staff - and it's SO much warmer there. We play outside under a huge tree that offers grand inspiration. No matter where we are, our music seems to help folks feel happy and encouraged - that's what matters. Our little duo does what it can to carry on the spirit of the Thugz. Take care. Love, Sylvia
