We Like the Outside

On 4/20 (aka Easter Sunday), the Thugz traveled to the Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley. We got "outside" our usual fan base, tribal zone - smack dab into a world of pavement and parking meters. It was a gloriously sunny day, and my ride down the coast was spectacular, raging ocean and all. The Sweetwater Music Hall folks were very friendly and helpful and even came up with a spare snare drum to replace the one that had been left behind. We trimmed down our equipment to a bare minimum in order to fit on a ledge overlooking the outdoor brunch area. Thank goodness for Drew who helped adjust everything and made our sound work. We mostly did our own tunes, but since were we in Bob Weir territory, we offered some Dead favorites too. Stephanie joined us and sang a great version of "You Gotta Serve Somebody." How does she remember all those verses? Mike played and sang like a champ and offered some stellar horn licks. I got to do a couple of my new songs, and that felt good since I had some family members in the crowd. I really like the sound of Chris's acoustic bass - very mellow yet powerful. Of course, Bradley was a champ, holding us all together with style. Our dear friend and former manager, Craig (with Jo too), showed up to cheer us on. The crowd was fabulous - smiles, applause, happy faces all around. After our final "Ripple," we had a chance to try some of the Sweetwater food - my, oh my, good stuff! So I would say our Marin County adventure was a success (only one parking ticket) - we like the "outside" - outside Sonoma County, that is. Next month, we'll have a chance to travel again when we join our friends "Boris Garcia" on a mini-tour. But home sweet home will always beckon, and we are looking forward to our Memorial Day weekend at the Monte Rio Amphitheater. I highly recommend checking out the website calendar for updates on all this. Mike has been working hard to keep our site up to date and fun to navigate. Take care. Love, Sylvia
